The question is asked time and time again, “Will our customers' accounts be retained when we migrate to Shopify,” and the answer is, yes! Migrating your order transactional history to Shopify will also assign the order data to a customer profile created. Look at it as a two-step process. Orders are migrated, then customer profiles are created, and then customers are assigned to orders. This will show the order data from within the customers' accounts when they're logged in.
Customers Activating Their Account
Once your transactional order and customer history are migrated into Shopify, we’ll then bulk send out invites to your customers to activate their new account. You have the option to customize the email we send to your customers as well. The best method is to explain that you have upgraded their experience online, and they just need to click “Activate” and enter a new password, and they are back on board. Manually sending out these customer invites can also be accomplished from within the customers’ profile inside your Shopify admin at any time.
Simple Process For The Customer
Once the customer clicks the activate button, they will then be prompted to enter a new password, and then after clicking activate, they will have instant access into their new account for your Shopify store.
Analytics - See Everything
Once we send out the bulk email to invite your customers to their new Shopify account, you'll be able to see the number of emails sent, delivered, opened, bounces, invalid emails, and more. This is useful information that gives you solid numbers to review.
We Can Do It For You!
If you want Pelican Commerce to handle the process for you then there are some things to know.
- We will need ADMIN access to your account. This means your admin login credentials.
- We'll log in, and submit the email blast which means approve the billing requested by the app. For exact app pricing, ask your project manager.
The admin account login is only needed for this one task and you can change your password after we have completed the task. Additionally, you can handle this yourself, but we will not be able to follow the entire process all the way through.
