If you are interested in updating prices, you can do so using two methods: using the user interface for individual SKUs, or bulk update for many SKUs (prices and promotions must be specified, download and upload)

If you want to update the price of a single item, you should select "Manage Items" within the Seller Center. In this way, you will find all the SKUs made, and you can modify them if you select the rows in the grids from the action bar pressing "update price". You must enter the new price you want in the field offered, and select "update". It is important to mention that the price must respect the established rules, otherwise, your article will not be published. If you make a mistake and the article is not published, you can re-update the price, but it will have a delay of 48 hours.

walmart single item

On the other hand, if you want to carry out a Bulk update specifying the price and the promotion, you will have to go to the Bulk Updates page under articles and inventories. You will have to select the specification template, press "Update prices, and promotions" and then choose specifications and download

walmart bulk updates 1

An Excel file will open which will be the method to update the prices and specifications. The requested data will be the SKU that was provided for the item and the new price that you want to update. Depending on your interest, you will need to complete different fields. If you are looking to perform a basic price update, you will need to complete the first two fields. But if you want to send promotional prices, you will need to fill in all the remaining fields.

walmart bulk updates 2
walmart bulk updates 3

To upload the specifications already made, you must return to the Bulk Updates page and upload the Excel file with the data already completed. You can choose whether to drag the file from your browser or open it as an already saved file.

walmart bulk updates 5

Once the document is uploaded, you must select the desired type of specification (in this case, you must choose “Bulk prices and promotion update”). Then you must select what type of update you are doing (in case of updating prices, you must select “Price Updates”) and send.

walmart bulk products 5

To track your file, you will need to select "Feed Status" in Bulk Updates. If you want more information about the status, you should check the "Feed Status" within the Seller Center. It can happen that you do not see the update instantly since you will have to wait for it to be processed (it can take up to 4 hours).

To update your inventory by applying the “Inventory Specification” function it is important to navigate to Bulk Updates.

walmart bulk inventory 2

To begin, in the area of "Select Specification Template" you must select “Bulk Inventory Update" and within the drop-down menu press specifications, and download.

walmart bulk inventory 3

It is important to mention that applying “Inventory Specification” will include an excel template divided in two fields which should be completed following these indications. For the SKU field you should include what you are updating, and for the New Quantity field you should mention how many stock you have added to the SKU.

In case you want to update the inventory using that specification, you must open the Excel file and fill in the data for each SKU to be updated. Then you must save the file (without changing the file type you are using).

If you want to upload specifications, you must return to the Bulk Updates page and upload the previously completed file. It is possible if you want to drag the file from the explorer or open an already saved file by clicking on the upload box.

walmart bulk inventory 4

Once this action is performed, you should search for the desired specification in the drop-down menu. Then you should press “Bulk Inventory Update” and select the facility that will house the inventory.

walmart bulk inventory 5

Finally, you must select the shipping node from the drop-down menu and click “Submit”.

walmart bulk inventory 6

Different errors can occur that slow down the update, for example, if you see "data limit exceeded" you should re-check the SKU ID and verify that it does not exceed the character limit (The limit is 50). If the number is exceeded, you must replace the SKU with a shorter one and update your inventory with your new SKU.

If you are willing to track your fiel you must look for the Feed Status.

FAQs

Some points that can help you throughout the process are the following:

  • If you updated the inventory but the new quantity does not appear on the product, you must verify that the update was successful.
  • If you want to retire the article from the site, you must remove it. In case it is urgent, you should create a support case that explains precisely the situation and what the urgency corresponds to.
  • If you want to withdraw a product, you can choose between different options:

- Use the withdraw API call

- In case you are using the item specification, you must enter the end date.

- If you are using a solution provider, contact them.

  • If you want to re-publish a product that you have already withdrawn, you can do it without problems. You must upload the full specification by selecting "add new items" within the seller center.

With the Bulk Specification Sheets, you can manage your inventory and explore new functions that will allow you to manage your articles correctly, avoiding errors in your sales. This blog will help you get an overview of what the bulk updates panel looks like and how you can use it to manage your articles.

walmart bulk updates 20

In the Bulk Updates Dashboard, you will find 3 different sections that will allow you to download spec sheets for your item actions, upload the completed specifications, and check your feed status.

A specification sheet must be downloaded for each action you decide to do. Depending on the selected specification, the information required for the action will change.

walmart bulk updates 22

The Bulk inventory update will change the number of units that can be sold for an item. In this way, all the information must be uploaded to the Seller Center to be published successfully. As sellers, it is important to pay attention to the amount of stock available for each inventory to avoid future cancellations, among others.

Another important function is the Bulk Pricing and Promotion Update since each item has its own price and must be managed and updated by the sellers. If you want to run certain promotions to incentivize sales at a reduced price, it is also possible. If you want to update the price without accessing a promotion, you must complete only the SKU and the updated price, leaving blank all other fields related to a promotion. Once the file is completed, you must upload it to the vendor center, pressing "price updates”.

The Bulk Lag time update implies the time the seller will take to prepare the sold product to make the corresponding shipment.

On the other hand, the Bulk Return rules updates will allow you to customize the conditions and rules for the returns of items, generating a cancellation.

Return rules at the item level will have higher priority and relative importance than return rules at the category level.

If you as a seller belong to the two-day Delivery Program, you can belong to the Two-day Shipping Override SKU. It is important to mention that shipping overrides can be set if: It does not adapt to the new updates, has elements within its extended network, uses the new tools but cancels the specified coverage areas.

Upload Full Spec

When the required information is completed, the specification sheet must be dragged and loaded by clicking on the load box.

walmart bulk updates 23

Once completed, you will need to select the type of specification loaded.

walmart bulk updates 24

If you are updating your inventory, you must select the selected "shipping node" that would receive that inventory. You will need to answer the corresponding questions and select “Submit” to begin to upload.

walmart bulk updates 25

If you want to have an accurate follow-up of the feed and be able to see the status of all your Bulk Updates, you must go to the “Feed Status” and you will find all the changes made recently. It is important to note that all the loaded specification templates have assigned a feed ID, this will make it easier in the future to find it and carry out the corresponding follow-up to avoid errors.

If you've spent years building your Amazon product catalog and want to use that data to get onto Walmart Marktplace, then you're in the right spot. We help companies crawl their existing Amazon product data so they can use it on other selling channels to expand their presence in the E-Commerce space.

If you're the original listing owner or just a seller on someone else's listing, we can crawl and capture the rich product data from your Amazon account and get all your product listed on Walmart. Commonly we are asked what the standard fields are that we can easily crawl.

Additional Data Attribute Crawling

If you're looking to capture data not listed above, we can map specific fields you may need while crawling. Amazon's standard fields are available for us to capture with just the ASIN or GTIN/UPC code. In some cases there are additional feature attributes needed for a project and we can easily capture them as well.

Reach out to us today if you're looking to bring your Amazon product catalog over to Walmart Marketplace. Check out our Walmart Bulk Product Uploading Service for more information.

Getting your products added to Walmart Marketplace is a process and we have a well thought out service to help get you up and running quickly with the highest validation rate. Walmart is not the easiest platform to get your products added to, and that is exactly what we do, we upload your products and then you can manage your own account.

Open Listings Report

You provide us with an Open Listings Report (for FBM Items) or an Active Listings Report (for FBA Items). You will have time to exclude any items you don't want to be moved, but for everything else, we will crawl the ASINs to capture the full rich product data to use in your project.

Setup Account

We will send you instructions to provide us user access to your Walmart account. We will provide a special email address unique to your project.

Basecamp Invite

You'll receive an invite to our Project Management system where you will see the scope of work, updates on our progress, and you'll have the ability to chat with our entire team.

Items Missing UPC Codes

If your products do not have UPC codes in the Amazon system then you have a few options:

  • You can request a UPC code exemption from Walmart.
  • You can provide us a list of UPC codes from the suppliers files.
  • You can purchase UPC codes and provide them to us.

Many of our clients purchase UPC codes and provide them to us in the case the products do not have them already. In most cases Amazon's system does have them and it's not an issue.

SKU Issues

Walmart allows one unique SKU per listing in your account. So if you've uploaded products in the past then keep in mind that the SKU must be unique OR we will use the existing listing and update it with the current information from our new feed.

Image Sizes

Walmart has a minimum image size requirements. This means if your product images are the size of a thumbnail, then they will not accept the product listing. So keep in mind that if your product images are too small then that is something you will need to correct before we can perform our service.

Categories Are A Suggestion

We map categories in the category listing feed we use to upload your products. However, it is completely automated as to where the products ultimately land. Since the category listing feed is specific to the parent category, we know the products will land inside the parent category, but the sub-categories are chosen by Walmart's system.

Support Cases

If there is a system error requiring a support ticket then we will handle support cases to resolve issues related to listing products with the category listing feed. Account restrictions, restricted product issues, or other issues not related to our scope of work will need to be handled by you.

Listings Merged/Ownership

If you sell a product that is already in the Walmart Marketplace catalog, then your new listing will merge with the existing listing. This means you will not have control over the listing content (like descriptions, titles, etc) and your offer will show up on the product page. If you are not the original creator, then there is no way to gain control over those existing listings.

Restricted Items

If you're selling a product that is considered a restricted brand, restricted category, or restricted item, then we have no control over what items cannot be sold in the Marketplace. This is not a very common issue, but from time to time this does come up. So make sure your items are allowed in the marketplace, and that you have full category approval.

Lead Time (Lag)

We can set lead time for your products in the Lag Time Feed. But there are some things to know about the limitations. The default ability for the Lag Time value is 0 OR 1. Meaning Same Day or Next Day the item leaves your warehouse. If we put a higher value into the Lag Time field (e.g. 4) then Walmart auto sets the number to 0 (same day). The only way around this is by requesting a Lag Time exemption through Walmart Support.

48-Hours To Launch

If you have never launched a product for sale on your Walmart account and are launching for the first time. Then launching your account can take 48-hours. Keep this in mind when scheduling a time to go live only if you have a brand new account.

Inventory Added At End

We upload all listings with 0 inventory value to prevent them from going live until we have the green light to launch them by you. This means you have a few options to add inventory.

  • We can add a blanket number (e.g. 50) to all items.
  • We can export a fresh inventory count from Amazon and bulk upload to Walmart.
  • If you have a third-party system syncing the inventory then you will connect it and the numbers will auto change.
  • You can manually upload an inventory report in bulk or manage inventory from your Seller Center admin.

If you have any questions about the process then reach out to us anytime!

Getting your products listed on Walmart Marketplace is part of the journey to getting started. Now that your products are listed in the Walmart catalog, there are some things you need to know about managing those listings.

Walmart has a few methods to get your products listed in their catalog. We have found the most efficient, bulk method, with the most control over the listing data is by Walmart's Category Listing Feed. That is the method we used to get your product data added to the marketplace.

Changing Listing Content

Changes to your products should always be done by the Category Listing Feed we provide you at the end of your project. You may have multiple feeds because Walmart splits them up by product category. If you want to change the content of your products then you will always use the Category Listing Feed to make those changes. See below for what fields are safe to update using this feed.

  • SKU
  • Product Name
  • Description
  • Key Features
  • Product Tax Code
  • Brand
  • Manufacturer
  • Model Number
  • Manufacturer Part Number
  • Main Image URL
  • Additional Image URL

  • Additional Image URL #3
  • Additional Image URL #4
  • Additional Image URL #5
  • Additional Image URL #6
  • Additional Image URL #7

Re-Ingest File If Walmart Asks

If Walmart requests for you to Re-Ingest your products then use the Category Listing Feed to perform this task. Walmart will sometimes ask you to Re-Ingest your feed if your products have not been active for a period of time and you want to re-activate them.

Don't Update From Admin

We have found that if you update your product data from the Walmart Seller Center admin, then commonly variation data and listings split and there are problems. So be careful when using the admin interface to make content changes. Using the feed always works smoothly and has all the original formatting that we used to validate your products.

Bulk Inventory Is A Different Feed

Updating inventory levels in bulk can be done inside your Seller Center Account under the inventory tab. This is a more simplistic feed requiring a smaller amount of data to pass validation. We provide you a formatted inventory feed ready to use as part of your project.

Deleting Products

Walmart does not allow products to be deleted from the catalog. You can however "Retire" a listing. If you upload the product with the same SKU and UPC code, the item will be pulled out from retirement and go back to active.

Existing Catalog Matching

At the time we uploaded your products, if the item(s) exist in the Walmart catalog and we use a matching UPC code to one of those existing items, there isn't a way to delete it. Walmart will auto add you to that listing (similar to the way Amazon does). You can retire the item inside your account, but if you upload again then it just pulls the items out of retirement. If you're not the original creator of the product/listing, then you have virtually no control over any content changes. But your offer will be added to the product page.

If the item is brand new to the catalog, then you will be able to control the content and listing data using the methods mentioned above.

If you're just getting your new Walmart Marketplace account setup, then you're going to want to set your Lag-Time in bulk. Walmart expects fast lead times, and that usually reflects in the first order when you see that they want you to ship the item out of the door the same day. Competing with Amazon means taking extreme measures, but this one is tough. I'm going to show you the very few options you have to buy yourself as much time as possible to provide tracking numbers back to Walmart for your shipped order.

Lag-Time Options

Walmart Marketplace allows for bulk lag-time changes on a per-product basis. However, you have the option of "0" (Same Day) or "1" (Next Day). You can change everything to "1," which is the maximum time allowed by default for all Walmart Marketplace accounts.

The second option is to reach out to Walmart and send them a "Request Lag Time Exceptions." You can find documentation on what to expect here.

Just Add "2" or "3" To Your Listing?

No! If you add any value other than "0" or "1" to your listing, then the system automatically defaults the listing to "0" (Same Day). This means you need to provide a tracking number to Walmart for that order the same day if the order came in before the 2 PM cutoff.

If you have additional questions about this, then reach out to us anytime. We can bulk upload the Lag-Time for you to your Walmart Seller Center account.

NOTE: DO NOT USE OUR @PELICANCOMMERCE.COM EMAIL ADDRESS TO PROVIDE ACCESS. YOU WILL BE PROVIDED A SPECIAL EMAIL BY YOUR PROJECT MANAGER. READ BELOW!

There are a few things to know if you're trying to provide access to Walmart Marketplace.

  • Walmart requires a unique email address that is not already in use with another Walmart seller account.
  • Do not assign access to our email address or your project manager's email address.
  • You will be provided a unique email address to provide us access to by your project manager.

What You Need To Do

Step 1: Log in to your Walmart Seller Center account.

Step 2: Head up to the "Settings" area in the header area of the admin and hover your mouse over "Settings," then go down to "User Management" and open this page.

Walmart Seller Center Settings Add User

Step 3: Click on the button "Add New User" Enter the "First Name" as PELICAN, "Last Name," COMMERCE "Email" (use the email provided to you by your Pelican Commerce project manager," "Role," select ADMIN and then click "Add User" button.

Step 4: We'll take it from here. We get an email from Walmart with password and security questions and will add that to our secure project management system for our team to use during your project.

You're all set! If you have questions then reach out to us anytime.

Once you have your products listed on Walmart Marketplace, you are going to start receiving orders. You may see ship times that are very soon after you receive the order. Many of our clients have said that Walmart expects them to ship items sometimes the same day to comply with their shipping lag time rules. For that reason, you may want to change the lag time (lead time) for your products to a higher number.

Bulk Uploading Lag Time By Spreadsheet

Ongoing updates are easy to upload using a spreadsheet, and that is the method we use after we upload your products to Walmart Marketplace (with our Walmart Marketplace Bulk Product Uploading Service). We can even create a lag time file for you so that you're ready to make edits and upload quickly. When in Walmart Seller Center, head over to the left navigation and click "Bulk Lag Time Updates." The spreadsheet that Walmart allows you to download is a simple two header file where you have “SKU*” and “Fulfilment Lag Time*” columns.

Submitting Bulk Lag Time File In Walmart Seller Center

Once your file is ready with SKU and the Lag Time, you can drop the file into the bulk Lag Time updates area and hit submit. Walmart will match the SKU and add the new lag time value to each of the products you submit.

During Your Project With Us

If you have a project with Pelican Commerce, then we handle this process for you at the end of the uploading project. You can specify what number you want to be added to your products, and we'll update the file and upload it for you. Some things to know about Lag Time updates... Walmart's default value, if nothing is submitted, is 0, which means same-day shipping if before the daily cut off time. If you put 1, then that gives you an extra 24 hours to ship the product out. Adding anything two and higher requires a special request from Walmart with a reason why your lead time is above their usual standard time frames. So keep this in mind when deciding on a number. Most sellers put 0-day or 1-day, and if they choose on 2-day or above without permission, then the system will keep the 0-day default.

If you have any questions about our Walmart Bulk Product Uploading Service, then reach out to us anytime.

Once you have your Walmart inventory listed in your Walmart Seller Center, account you're going to need inventory levels added. There are many ways to adjust your inventory in Seller Center. You can upload using a spreadsheet in bulk, manually update each inventory level product by product, or you can connect an inventory management "Channel Manager" to your account and sync between marketplaces.

During Your Project With Us

If you have a project with Pelican Commerce, then we handle this process for you at the end of the uploading project. We upload your products with a 0 inventory level while they are being processed. Once they are processed, we then grab a new inventory report from Amazon, Shopify, or wherever your product source data came from, we then bulk match your inventory and upload it to Walmart Marketplace, so you're ready to push live and start selling.

For more information about how Pelican Commerce processes inventory levels for Marketplace Bulk Uploading or for Shopify Migrations, check out our post Refreshing Inventory Levels At The End Of Your Project for more details. If you have any questions about our services or Walmart Marketplace Product Uploading, then reach out anytime.

When migrating product data to platforms like Amazon, Walmart, or Shopify, it is important to maintain the day-to-day updates in your database. That means once the initial data has been pulled, the dynamic portions like pricing, and inventory quantities are completely out of date. But don’t fret, we have the perfect process to solve this issue. Once your product data has been moved, your Shopify store or Marketplace catalog has been created (Amazon and Walmart) then we’ll take a fresh inventory feed from your existing source database and bulk match SKU-to-SKU to add inventory and pricing levels that have been changed since the original data was captured.

Depending on if you are migrating your website or just adding some products to Walmart, here are your options below. Let your project manager know what you would like to do to refresh your inventory.

Walmart Inventory Refresh

  • Run a fresh Open Listings report and we'll match the inventory levels.
  • Use the existing Open Listings report that was provided to us at the beginning of the project.
  • Put a blanket flat number e.g. 50 on all inventory.
  • Leave everything at 0 so you can add inventory yourself.
  • You're going to connect a third-party system so leave everything at 0.
  • Provide us with a separate inventory spreadsheet that has matching SKUs.

Website Migration (Shopify & BigCommerce)

  • Export exact inventory numbers from your existing website.
  • Put a blanket flat number e.g. 50 on all inventory.
  • Leave everything at 0 so you can add inventory yourself.
  • You're going to connect a third-party system so leave everything at 0.
  • Provide us with a separate inventory spreadsheet that has matching SKUs.

Blanket Inventory Numbers or Multi-Channel Managers

In some cases, you may just want a blanket number e.g., 50 on all items. Or you may have a third-party channel management software that you'll use to sync your inventory across several channels. If that is the case, then you can request for us to add a blanket number or just leave inventory at "0" if you have a channel manager. In the case of a channel manager, the critical part of the migration is to be sure the SKU is a 100% match, which is something we make sure of. These types of inventory management systems do an SKU-to-SKU match when syncing the inventory between channels. So you'll be all set to connect the system to your new site or marketplace channel.

If you have any questions about our product catalog migration services, then reach out anytime.

If you were invited to Walmart Marketplace and have decided to get your account setup, then your probably here because you've realized Walmart Marketplace is a nightmare. But that is why we've helped so many companies over the years get past the problematic onboarding process and straight to selling on the platform.

I'm going to go over different challenges our several hundred clients have all faced during the onboarding process. This should clear your mind of any doubt as to how things work, how things don't work, and what the solutions are to getting all your products on the platform so you can start receiving orders.

The Most Common Questions

  1. How do I complete the Go-Live Checklist?
  2. How do I get inventory levels added to my products?
  3. How can I provide access so you can manage my account?
  4. How do I run an Amazon "Open Listings" report?
  5. What are my options if my products don't have UPCs?

These are the most common questions we hear daily for our Walmart projects. Our process addresses every one of these problems, and we have reliable solutions for them all.

Go-Live Checklist

When you first open your account with Walmart, they are going to require that you complete their Go-Live Checklist. This checklist consists of adding information to your account about your business like return policy, bank account information for deposits, shipping settings, tax information, etc.

You will also be required to complete a test order. Keep in mind that you will need at least 1 item added to your account to be able to complete a test order.

Fresh Inventory Report - To Go Live

Once Walmart has accepted all of your products through the validation process, we'll add inventory in bulk to each of your SKUs. We upload products with 0 inventory, so we have control over when they go live. Typically we'll run a new inventory report from your Amazon account or website's database, and then bulk match the latest inventory levels and upload. This is something that happens at the very end of the project.

Providing Access To Walmart

You can provide limited access to a contracted company from your Seller Center account. For instructions on how you can provide access, please read our Providing Access To Walmart Seller Center blog post we created with everything you need to know.

Providing Access to Walmart

Providing an Open Listing Report

There are a few reports from Amazon that we may request from you depending on if your products are FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant) or if they are FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) or both. Either way, please read our How To Run An Amazon Open Listing Report blog post we created with everything you need to know.

UPC Codes or GTIN Exemption

If you're bringing your product data from Amazon to Walmart, then there is a chance not all products will have UPCs. We can pull the UPCs out of Amazon's system only if they were provided to Amazon at some point. Some reasons UPCs are not provided to Amazon:

  1. The Brand Owner uploaded the item with their "Brand Registry" account, which comes with a UPC exemption.
  2. The marketplace retailer has a UPC exemption from Amazon.
  3. The product pre-dates the UPC requirements (8-10+ Years).

You have a few options to keep moving your products to Walmart if the product does not have a UPC. These solutions are:

  1. If your the brand owner, you can become a member of GS1.org and create your UPCs with your registered company prefix. This is the right way to register for UPCs.
  2. Apply for a UPC exemption with Walmart. We typically don't see many of these approved. Amazon approves much easier than Walmart Marketplace.
  3. Buy third party UPCs and upload using these codes. There are many services out there that offer UPCs (GS1.org registered codes). Keep in mind that if you buy them, then your not the membership holder, so the brand/company prefix is not yours. Many of our clients use an inexpensive service called (wesellbarcodes) dot com.

Duplicate UPC and SKU

If your data is coming from Amazon’s catalog, then sometimes there are duplicate SKUs and or products with the same UPC. In this case, we will need you to provide us with a new SKU and UPC for that uploaded item. This is just a limitation with Walmart’s system, not allowing us to re-upload the data after it is fixed.

Restricted Items

Walmart has a list of restricted items that you cannot sell. Pelican Commerce does not review these guidelines or your products to verify if you can or cannot sell them. So this means we complete a project for you, and the items are uploaded, then Walmart decides to restrict the items from being sold on Walmart.com, there is nothing we can do about it. So please review their restricted products article, Prohibited Products Policy, and Product Limitations for Marketplace Sellers.

Product Images

If your migrating product data from your Amazon account, then 99% of the time, there are no image issues when onboarding the products to Walmart Marketplace. However, if you’re moving product data from your Shopping Cart (Shopify, BigCommerce, etc.) and your product images are less than 500X500, then Walmart will not accept our file for validation.

Walmart makes it reasonably clear. Images must be at lease 500X500, have an all-white background, OR be a lifestyle image, and the product must take up at least 80% of the white space. There cannot be any logos, watermarks, and text in the images.

If your images are hosted on Dropbox or another file storage service, you will not be able to pass validation. The image link provided to Walmart must be a direct media asset to pass validation.

There are a few things to know if you're trying to provide access to Walmart Marketplace. Specifically, to an agency like Pelican Commerce that works with hundreds of client logins to Walmart.

  • Walmart requires a unique email address that is not already in use with another Walmart seller account.
  • Your primary email address to the Walmart Seller Center account will need to verify this new access.

What This Means For You

This means if you are trying to provide access to an agency (like Pelican Commerce), then you will need to assign this new Walmart Seller Center account to one of your existing email addresses to create the account.

Why

Some agencies (like Pelican Commerce) already have Walmart Marketplace access assigned to their email addresses. This just means that they cannot get through the entire process that Walmart requires to create an account with their email address.

Yes, you will be able to send the invite. However, the remaining process after the invitation will be halted once an existing email is entered into the invitation.

What You Need To Do

Step 1: Login to your Walmart Seller Center account.

Step 2: Head up to the "Settings" area in the header area of the admin and hover your mouse over "Settings," then go down to "User Management" and open this page.

Walmart Seller Center Settings Add User

Step 3: Click on the button "Add New User" Enter the "First Name," "Last Name," "Email" (use one of your business or personal addresses," "Role," and then click "Add User" button.

Step 4: You will receive an invitation email inside the email box you entered in Step 3 with a link that will take you through the process. Click the link to continue the setup. Make sure you are not logged into your existing account when clicking on the link.

Step 6: Once you click this link, you will be able to set a password for the account. You're required to also put a few secret questions/answers for security on this account. Fill out the entire form and then create the account.

Now provide the login information to the user, and they will have access to your Walmart Seller Center account.

Over the last few years, we have worked with hundreds of small businesses selling on Walmart Marketplace. Everyone seems to say the same thing about how difficult Walmart has made it to sell on their platform. Although things are improving and Walmart's revenue is growing with the latest numbers from emarketer showing Walmart is now #3 largest e-commerce retailer online, they still have a long way to go.

Walmart's Seller Center Issues

Most retailers have a hard time uploading products with the category listing feed, so many are trying to upload in Seller Center manually. However, the manual process not only takes a lot of time, but it is very buggy, and creating variations is not possible. Many of our clients break the ability to create variations for their products from the category listing feed when adding them manually. There are limited bulk actions that can be taken on your products from the seller dashboard, making it difficult to get everything set up in a reasonable amount of time.

Walmart's Policy Issues

Policies at Walmart are silly sometimes. An example is, Lead time can only be "1" even though it appears you can change that number. Businesses that are coming from Amazon, where they have the flexibility of managing any lead time up to 30 days, are having trouble when keeping up with how fast they need to add tracking numbers to each order.

Walmart will also pull your offer down if they feel the product price is too high. They crawl through other websites to determine what they think is unreasonable pricing. This has caused some problems for some sellers that have their products on their direct sales channel for a bit less since the fees are far less through their website.

Get Help Listing Products on Walmart

We offer a bulk product uploading service to help speed you along to getting your products live on Walmart. We can capture your product data from your Amazon listings, eBay listings, your website, and more. We format products correctly, including variations, images, multiple images, descriptions, titles, pricing, and more. Check out our Walmart Marketplace Setup Service to get started.

Walmart Marketplace has been pushing its merchants to offer Free Shipping for some time now. Walmart's effort to compete with Amazon has resulted in policies to put the pressure on the merchants to have faster lead times and free shipping to gain market share in the E-commerce space. But some products just cannot be structured with free shipping, and it makes more sense to offer a shipping charge that may be different for each product rather than a blanket shipping rate that applies to all products.

Walmart allows for individual shipping charges on a product by product basis. However, this rate must be uploaded in the proper product category feed. Filling out the appropriate category feed requires all product data to be entered correctly. Inside the feed, you will find the "Shipping Overrides" area where you can enter the exact shipping override information to apply to each product.

Walmart Shipping Prices

One of the services we offer is to bulk upload products to your Walmart Marketplace account. If you have products you want to be moved from your Amazon Seller Central account, then we can capture ALL of your product data and transfer the data to Walmart as well. Part of our onboarding service is to make sure your Shipping Override data is filled in with the proper shipping rates for each product. If you need help onboarding your products to Walmart Marketplace, then contact us today.

Many small businesses have come to us in search of a GeekSeller alternative. GeekSeller seems like a great all-in-one system for Walmart Marketplace. However, there are some reasons why you may just want to list your products and manage your inventory levels yourself or through a third party that only focuses on things like orders and inventory syncing but without giving them a percentage of your sales.

Here are some common reasons why you may want an alternative to GeekSeller:

  1. The lead time to market may not meet your deadlines if you're trying to get all your products uploaded in one swoop.
  2. A percentage of your sales may not be conducive to your margins, especially with these online marketplaces already taking much of the profit baked into your pricing.
  3. If your product data is inside Amazon or not complete, then you will find only part of your data moved into Walmart. You may also be told the products just cannot be added without you capturing the data yourself.

We have created a solution that addresses these issues and even tried at one point to partner with GeekSeller to offer their customers faster lead times, better data collection for higher validation rates, and they just ignored us. So we continued making our service more all-inclusive, ongoing fee-free, and fast onboarding times for our clients.

Here is our process:

  1. We collect the product data from Amazon in FULL, or the supplier, website platform like Shopify, etc.
  2. Combine all the data available to us into a single spreadsheet. In some cases, we will temporarily host image files as part of the validation process.
  3. Move and format the product data into the correct Walmart category template.
  4. Upload the file and fix any validation errors until all of your products are inside your Walmart Seller Center account, ready to go live.
  5. We pull fresh inventory just after you give us the green light to push the items live.
  6. We publish your products, and our process is complete, and you are now selling on Walmart.

You then have the option to manually change your inventory, or connect a third party that offers flat monthly fees to sync inventory and order date.

Moving your Amazon product listings to Walmart

Amazon does not have an easy export tool inside Seller Central for you to export ALL data. We crawl the ASINs inside your seller central account to collect data like Product Title, Description, Features, Pricing, Images, Multiple Images, Variation Data (Product Data), Weight, Dimensions, GTIN/UPCs, and more. This is the easiest way for the average small business owner to get up and running on Walmart Marketplace with almost no work on their part.

Check out our Walmart Marketplace bulk product uploading service.

If you're approved to sell on Walmart Marketplace, and you're trying to upload your products in bulk, then your going to need to learn how to populate a category template for upload into the marketplaces "Seller Center" area of your account. Many of our clients struggle with the validation process that needs to take place to get products live in the marketplace.

What is the validation process?

Validating your category template feed is the process of filling out the spreadsheet in the exact format Walmart Marketplace has programmed their system to accept the data. Shopping cart systems like Shopify are always easier to upload product data to the database because the rules to regulate people on the platform are not strict. Whereas Walmart has particular data requirements to manage the giant seller pool they have.

Download your category template here

We typically get small business owners that have already tried to upload the category template file and are having these common issues.

Common Issues

  • Images are hosted on Dropbox, Google Drive, or are not an actual "Hosted Image" link.
  • The wrong template was selected.
  • Variation grouping data is not formatted correctly or even not available.
  • Add color swatches to each variation.
  • The tax code is not correct.
  • GTIN/UPCs are not available, organized, or the company has been using programs like Amazon's brand registry and is used to having a GTIN exemption (but cannot qualify for one with Walmart).

The #1 issue we see is variation formatting for companies that offer products like Apparel where sizing, colors, or other product variations need to be formatted in a way that Walmart will combine those options onto a single page with dropdowns.

What we offer our clients

We offer an end-to-end white glove service where we bulk crawl/capture your product data from Amazon, Shopify, your supplier or other sources where the full product data can be collected into a single spreadsheet. We then format, and validate the data into your Walmart Seller Center account so the products are in your account and ready to go live when you give the green light for us to publish them. This is specifically helpful for businesses that are busy, don't know how to get this process done in a cost-effective way, or for business owners that just don't want to deal with the process.

Check out our Walmart Product Uploading service page for more details.

Walmart's new efforts to onboarding new marketplace sellers have been overwhelming for this giant retailer. The big question is, are they going to be competing against Amazon or themselves? What we are finding is 1+ week response times from their support team, and when they finally reply, they are not all that educated in how their system works - or doesn't work! In this post, we are going to talk about a few different problems that we have found to be a dealbreaker for most of the retailers that are trying to get on this fast-growing marketplace.

Product Data Feed Problems:

Walmart has some problematic areas of their data feed process. It doesn't help that they only allow products to be added and edited through a feed. If you don't like that method, then you can give Channeladvisor all your money, and they will gladly make your life easier. But we would instead not give our company to them and still get our products on Walmart Marketplace. Here are some of the problems with the data feed we found.

Tax Codes:

Walmart is a large, established company that has ventured into many different types of products. Everything from the end consumer good, leasing space inside their store, to auto services in the back of each store. Each supplier that has a contract with Walmart may have different tax codes, and for this reason, Walmart has required the same codes inside their data feed upload requirements. They are kind of like Microsoft trying to bring their old clunky system to a tablet. They are bringing the weight of their existing empire to their E-Commerce operations. Commonly there is just one tax code to use for 95% of the clients that we have serviced.

Unique ID, UPC, EAN, JAN, ISBN, and or GTIN Codes:

Since Walmart has existing policies for its sellers (usually Suppliers and not other retailers), they require that each product has a GS1 Membership with Certified UPC or EAN codes. Commonly UPCs are not working if you have purchased aftermarket codes because those codes don't match up with the systems live checking tools that match brand names to the membership.

Usually, you would have a supplier that already has a GS1 Membership, and you just take the suppliers UPCs from a spreadsheet. But if you have your products, Bundles, Multi-Packs, Kits, etc.. then you may need to register for a GS1 Membership.

Here is a breakdown of the cost of a GS1 Membership for UPC, EAN, GTIN Codes:

Product Variations:

When it comes to Product options like sizing, color, or whatever you may call your product label type, most systems are complicated. We find it to be the most challenging part of any system other than image uploading (see below). The critical problem that we are finding in Walmart's Product Variations requirements it the variations type label. Check through Walmart's documentation here to see the list of variations labels you can choose from. Some companies may call it "Color" like Walmart's system does, but many have unique names that are not accepted like "Stripe Color," "Second Color," "Shirt Size," and Walmart will only accept the predefined attributes.

Product Images:

You just can't seem to sell products without images online. This is why it is so essential to get Product Images uploaded into Walmart Marketplace correctly. Some common problems we're seeing are that companies have the following:

  • Images in a folder on their computer.
  • Links that are on Dropbox or other third-party services that offer image hosting.
  • Images on their current website server.

All of this usually is just fine, but Walmart doesn't allow HTTPS secure URLs. You must use an image service that is not HTTPS, and there is no software wrapped around the image. Most systems are like this, but the HTTPS part is new for us, and that is why we have an image server just for our Walmart service.

How we can help:

We've tried to teach other retailers how to be self-sufficient on Walmart, and the system is so new, changing by the week and just too advanced for most people. So we offer a service to help you get all these problems solved, products uploaded and your products online ready to sell. This works better and is much faster to get up and running on Walmart Marketplace.

Our Walmart Marketplace Product Data Feed Uploading Service:

  • Product Uploading in Bulk,
  • Product Matching in Bulk (for existing items in the Walmart Catalog).
  • Product Inventory Updates
  • Ongoing Maintenance to keep existing items up to date, old items removed, and new items added into the catalog.

These four services cover most of everything you could need from an IT standpoint. Reach out and let's chat about getting you set up and running strong on Walmart Marketplace.

Walmart recently started inviting more sellers to its closed (invitation only) marketplace. Many invited businesses have come to us seeking help uploading products to the marketplace because Walmart's interface is lite compared to other established marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and Etsy. I'm going to talk about our service and how we are helping small businesses get up and running on Walmart Marketplace, Quick, and Cheap!

Some of the challenges:

Most of the issues our clients have had are simply because Walmart does not allow you to add one product at a time through their interface. Currently, there is no other way than to upload with a spreadsheet in a .csv format. While this is the best way to add products in bulk, there are so many different validation parameters that it just becomes difficult to get started, so you're not alone if you're having trouble.

One of the most common challenges we're finding is the Tax Settings inside the bulk import sheet. The reason this is so difficult is that Walmart's brick and mortar systems have accommodated so many different product types with various tax structures over the years. Most E-Commerce retail websites fall into one tax type in Walmart's system. Other challenges are common in bulk import sheets like Variations, Pricing, and Category Mapping.

Our Walmart Bulk Uploading Service:

We offer a bulk uploading service where you send us your product data, log in to your shopping cart or marketplace login, and we format all your product attributes, categories, images, pricing, and everything else needed to launch on Walmart Marketplace. As a small business ourselves, we look at this service from the perspective that it is not worth the time to learn how to import Walmart for most small retailers because they are changing their system by the day. So we're saving you a lot of time and frustration by just getting it done for you.

What channels can I pull data from?

There are many channels that we can pull data from. But the most common channels we have pulled from are:

  • Amazon
  • Shopify
  • BigCommerce
  • Volusion
  • 3dcart
  • Squarespace
  • Wix
  • Other Shopping Carts
  • Existing Spreadsheets (.csv, .xls, .xlsx)
  • Supplier Spreadsheets (.csv, .xls, .xlsx)
